Difference between competency standards and occupational standards
A Competency Standard is the smallest unit of measure in a competency based training and certification system. Usually referred to as a Unit of Competence. It is a specific task or activity in an occupation and is made up elements of competency together with performance criteria, a range of variables and an evidence guide.
An Occupational Standard on the other hand is made up of a number of individual Competency Standards or Units of Competence that specify the competencies that the individual MUST have as well as competencies that would be helpful to them in order to perform that particular occupational role.
